What GLP-1 Weight Loss Injections Reveal About Modern Women’s Health

A friend walked into my house recently and I barely recognised her.

Not because she’d changed her hair.
Not because she looked unhealthy.

Because she looked tiny.

She’s always been naturally slim, probably around a size 10.

The kind of woman most people would already describe as fit and healthy.

So when I gently mentioned how much weight she’d lost, she casually replied:

“Oh, I’ve been using the jabs since November.”

And honestly, the part that stayed with me wasn’t even the medication itself.

It was how normally she said it.

Like this had quietly become a completely reasonable solution to feeling uncomfortable in her body.

She explained that since perimenopause, the weight around her middle suddenly felt harder to shift.

She no longer liked the way she looked or felt.

Then she said something else that really stuck with me.

“I work all the hours I can. I don’t have time to work out or meal prep. The jabs just felt like the easiest option.”

And I think that sentence says a lot about the reality many women are living in right now.

Overworked. Exhausted. Stressed. Hormonal. Trying to hold everything together while also being expected to somehow optimise their health, body and energy levels.

Women are constantly flooded with conflicting messages around health and weight.

Eat less.
Move more.
Cut carbs.
Track calories.
Lift heavy.
Fix your hormones.
Reduce stress.
Heal your gut.

And for many women already juggling work, children, relationships, exhaustion and changing hormones… it all starts to feel impossible.

So when a weekly injection promises fast results with very little mental load…of course it feels appealing.

Not because women are lazy.

But because many women feel stuck, unsupported and desperate to feel comfortable in their bodies again.

That’s the part I think we should be paying attention to more.

Not just the injections themselves.

But why so many otherwise healthy women suddenly feel disconnected from their bodies in the first place.

I honestly think we need far more honest conversations around:

balanced eating,
blood sugar,
muscle mass,
gentle movement,
stress,
hormones,
and what healthy actually looks like during midlife.

Because somewhere along the way, many women stopped asking:
“How do I support my changing body?”

…and started asking:
“How quickly can I shrink it?”

If you’re struggling with weight changes, exhaustion, blood sugar swings, overwhelm or simply feeling disconnected from your body during midlife, you’re not alone.

And you don’t deserve to feel judged, confused or unsupported while trying to navigate it all.

I believe women deserve realistic, compassionate support around health, hormones and lifestyle, without extremes, shame or pressure.

If that’s something you’re currently struggling with, you’re always welcome to reach out.
