Why You’re Gaining Weight Even Through You’re Eating Well (Especially Over 35)

You’re eating better than ever.

You’ve cut back on sugar.

You’re trying to make healthier choices.

You’re more aware of what you’re putting into your body.

And yet…

The weight isn’t shifting.

Or worse, it’s slowly creeping up.

It doesn’t make sense.

If This Feels Familiar…

  • You feel like you’re doing everything “right”

  • The weight is sitting around your middle

  • You’re eating less… but not seeing results

  • You feel frustrated, confused, and a bit stuck

You might even be wondering:

“What am I doing wrong?”

What could really be causing weight gain?

Weight gain isn’t just about calories. There are several things happening beneath the surface:

Hormonal shifts
As hormones change (especially during perimenopause), the body becomes more prone to storing fat, particularly around the middle.

Blood sugar imbalance
Even “healthy” foods can spike blood sugar if meals aren’t balanced leading to fat storage, cravings, and energy dips.

Stress hormones
When cortisol is elevated, the body is more likely to hold onto weight, especially around the abdomen.

Under-eating or inconsistent eating
Skipping meals or not eating enough protein can slow metabolism and make weight loss harder.

Gut health + inflammation
A sluggish or inflamed gut can impact how your body processes food, stores fat, and regulates hormones.

If your energy is also low, or your body just feels “off” in general, it’s often a sign everything isn’t working together properly.

Why Your Body Feels Out of Balance.

It’s Not About Eating Less

This is where so many women get stuck.

They eat less. Cut more foods. Try to be stricter.

But this often backfires. Because:

  • Undereating = more stress on the body

  • Skipping meals = unstable blood sugar

  • Restriction = cravings + overeating later

Your body doesn’t feel safe, so it holds on.

What actually helps

Instead of restriction, the focus needs to shift to support:

  • Eating balanced meals (protein, fats, fibre)

  • Supporting blood sugar stability

  • Reducing stress (this is HUGE)

  • Healing gut health

  • Supporting hormones through lifestyle

These aren’t extreme changes.

Your body isn’t working against you.

It’s trying to protect you.

Once you start working with it instead of against it, things begin to shift.

If This Is You…
